Rural Small Business of the Year Award Winner

Nancy Major is passionate about helping children learn and it shows in everything she does.  After 20 years of teaching at various levels in the public school system, she founded the I Can Too Learning Center in 2010. The Center's main mission is to provide developmentally appropriate foundational skills to its students.

It all started with two employees and seven children ranging in age from 2-5 years old.  But by actively serving and responding to the needs of the community, I Can Too grew to 20 employees serving an average of 80 children per day.

A USDA loan helped the center acquire the space needed to accommodate the growth. In addition to a 10,000 square foot facility, they acquired an adjoining lot that enables them to have a children's garden that is located on-site and is used to educate students about proper gardening and nutrition. In addition to investing funds into a number of youth programs, Nancy invests her time as a 4H Group Leader, Sunday school teacher, and Salem Library board member.
